Welcome! While our build is an executable, we promise that our Virus specialist is on holidays so you are safe to play.

THE GAME

This is KronoGun, an isometric horror shooter. Our initial idea was inspired by Signalis and Death's Door.

In KronoGun, you play as UNKNOWN_ENTITY in order to save UNKNOWN_DEITY.

Against you, entities corrupted by the time cataclysm that occurred in the world.

But beware, even the time itself is against you. The cataclysm sealed the power of UNKNOWN_DEITY. All the time in the world begun to fade, even yours.

Rest for too long and you will perish together with the world.

There are other UNKNOWN_DEITY that want to restore the balance and help release their friend from the UNKNOWN_ENTITY prison. But they need your help to channel all their remaining power to help save their friend.

CONTROLS

WSAD - Movement

LMB / RMB - Shooting and Aiming

E - Interaction with objects / Progressing dialogue

F - Restore Time (sort of healing)

Esc - Pause menu

TLDR CORE LOOP

(more game spoilers at the end but we encourage to play first)

Equip your Time Glock, find Hordes, kill everything on sight, grab ancient relics to the main point and finish the game BEFORE YOUR TIME RUNS OUT. That's all.

Game takes around 10-15 minutes to finish depending on your aim, playstyle and of course luck.

TECH SIDE

The game was created on vanilla Unreal Engine 5.7.1 using C++ and Blueprints. Our initial build takes around 1GB, and 450 MB compressed as a zip. Could be better but that's Unreal for ya.

Core of the game is C++ with ECS as backbone while scripting and coughs hacks coughs are done mostly in Blueprints.

We didn't use any extrenal plugin beside what Unreal provides in the vanilla engine.

PROMISED LITTLE BIT MOAR GAMEPLAY SPOILERS

The HP system of Main Character revolves around Age and Time. Each second your Time (HP) runs out. Reaching certain Age tresholds makes you respectively Young, MiddleAged, Old. Depending on the age, your movements and damage changes. Fall below certain Time treshold and enemies will no longer have trouble catching you down so plan accordingly.

To make it harder, enemies are also reducing your Time by attacking you, which can make you Older much faster. In small numbers they may be your pray, but in large, the hunter can quickly become the pray themselves.

The Time can be restored via Time Flasks or via certain deity Shrines located around the rooms. Plan your route and don't worry to backtrack and search for Flasks around the map.

We managed to make only one weapon, the Time Glock. It is a regular pistol gun, however, beware of using too intensly. Once it Overheats it starts to take your Time as well with each shot, but also deals more damage to enemies. Trade your Time carefully.
